Agreed! Yes the fast pace of innovation is impressive and laser technology is promising, but I wish the hype were tempered with some practical questions. After all, any farmer can kill many more than 100,000 weeds per hour with a hoe! At what density of weeds can it do so? And at what cost?

Good point Dan! The effort to make a laser weeder reminds me of Dr. Evil in the first Austin Powers movie…adapted and paraphrased: “I just want cultivating robots with fricking laser beams attached their heads!”, lol
High tech is not always an improvement over the low tech. I am interested to see if this technology advances to, say, killing 100,000 weeds per minute. Moving faster (or better) than a human with a tool, or doing it cheaper than a human is really the threshold to adoption.
